Sr Advanced Cyber Security Architect/Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Information Systems Security Manager / Information Systems Security Officer (ISSM/ISSO) to lead all aspects of classified information system security, regulatory compliance, and safeguarding of classified material for the organization. This key role is responsible for ensuring adherence to the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), maintaining compliant classified systems aligned with DAAG and NIST SP 800 53 requirements, interpreting and implementing government security directives, and serving as a primary interface with senior company and government representatives.

In addition to these core responsibilities, this position will also serve as the organizational support for commercial external cybersecurity compliance and risk management, supporting customer security inquiries, third party assessments, and commercial cybersecurity governance activities.

This role requires a highly self-directed, task oriented professional capable of operating independently with minimal supervision while maintaining exceptional accuracy, discipline, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Core ISSM/ISSO Responsibilities

• Ensure organizational compliance with the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and all applicable government security requirements.
• Interpret, clarify, and communicate security policies and regulations in coordination with company leadership, government officials, and external stakeholders.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce system security plans, procedures, and documentation that safeguard classified information and ensure compliant system operation.
• Oversee all aspects of classified system security, including configuration management, audit log review, continuous monitoring, system hardening, and vulnerability mitigation.
• Administer and support classified DoD collateral information systems, providing onsite system administration, troubleshooting, patch management, and end user support.
• Ensure compliance with the (Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency) DCSA Assessment and Authorization Guide (DAAG) and NIST SP 800 53 control requirements.
• Conduct system risk assessments, coordinate incident response activities, and maintain system accreditation status.
• Perform security audits, self-inspections, and assessments to validate compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Partner with Facility Security Officers (FSOs), internal program teams, and government security personnel to maintain a cohesive, compliant security environment.
• Provide guidance, training, and support to employees at all levels to ensure proper safeguarding, control, and handling of classified materials.
• Act as a primary point of contact for resolving classified system issues, ensuring effective communication among technical teams, leadership, and government representatives.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of NISP, DAAG, NIST SP 800 53, and related classified information system requirements.
• Hands on experience administering, securing, and maintaining classified DoD collateral systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in security governance, risk analysis, and implementation of technical security controls.
• Experience supporting commercial cybersecurity compliance and third-party risk assessments.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex technical and regulatory requirements to diverse audiences.
• Highly self-directed, detail oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Qualifications

Must Have:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
• Certifications: DoD 8140 IAT Level 2 minimum compliant certification
• CompTIA Security+ certified (or become certified within 6 months of hire)
• Experience:
  • At least 3 years of IT system administration experience
  • At least 1 year of IT Project Management experience
  • Working knowledge of audit & assessment procedures, policy management.
• Technical Skills:
  • Experience with network administration, security tools (e.g., STIGs, SCC) and system hardening.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing secure Windows environments.
• Availability: Ability to work 100% in New Jersey
• Education: Associate’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security or related field

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Must work onsite at a secured facility.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (e.g., for hardware setup) and sit/stand for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in a high-security environment with strict access controls and protocols

• Prior work with DAAG and NIST SP 800-53 standards or in a defense contracting environment.
• High level Windows system administration – Windows 10 & 11
• CMMC requirements and maintenance expertise
• Project management, security compliance and audit experience.

COMPENSATION

The annual base salary range for this position is $168140k - $210469k . Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
