Health Unit Coordinator
Banner Desert Medical Center is seeking a new Health Unit Coordinator. This position is entry level and responsible for a variety of administrative support functions and customer service for an assigned patient care area which promote an organized, efficient delivery of care to patients. The position facilitates communication between physicians, nurses and patients, calls in consults and acts as a liaison with all other internal departments and external contacts.
We have two full-time day shift openings and one full time night shift position. These positions work 11 hour shifts and will include weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. You will have the opportunity to utilize our self-scheduling tool as well as enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential as well as an 18% Night shift differential.

This position is responsible for a variety of administrative support functions and customer service for an assigned patient care area which promote an organized, efficient delivery of care to patients. The position facilitates communication between physicians, nurses and physicians, calls in consults and acts as a liaison with all other internal departments and external contacts.
Core functions include performing receptionist/clerical duties, processing patient admissions, maintaining patient records, entering pending discharges, maintaining supply levels, monitoring electronic equipment, and interacting with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma/GED, 1 year of medical clerical experience, excellent organizational skills, effective communication skills, working knowledge of medical terminology, and computer literacy.
Preferred qualifications include successful completion of an approved unit secretary program and BLS certification.
