East Grand Forks School District is seeking applicants for Paraprofessionals East Grand Forks, MN is a city with a population of approximately 8,500 and located in the heart of the Red River Valley in Northwest Minnesota. It borders Grand Forks, ND and is very close to the University of North Dakota and Northland Community and Technical College. The district's K-12 enrollment is approximately 1,900 students as well as a thriving preschool program. The district has four separate school buildings housing grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Terms:
Compensation $18.06/hour (must be highly qualified per federal law - SEE below)
Compensation and Benefits per the Paraprofessional Master Agreement Qualifications:
-High School Diploma or its equivalent AND
Applicant MUST have one the following before they can begin working per federal law.
-At least two years of college credits (usually 60 hours in earned in MN) through an accredited institution of higher education;
-An Associates Degree or Higher from an accredited institution of higher education;
-A passing score on the MN ParaPro Assessment (460);
-A passing score on both of the ParaEducator Assessments 65% for Instructional Support and 70% for the Knowledge and Application test Additional Requirements:
Applicant must attend District-Assigned professional development.
Applicant must complete the PCA/CFSS training and exam on-line.
Applicant MUST demonstrate proficiency in the English Language. Beneficial skills:
Ability to communicate and connect with students and families, team building skills.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other district staff, students, and members of the public.
Possessing positive interpersonal skills. Preference given to applicants with prior experience. Reporting Relationship:
Paraprofessionals report to the Building Principal Basic Function of the Position:
The primary responsibility of the position will be supporting students under the direction and guidance of classroom teaching staff. Paraprofessionals play a pivotal role in supporting teachers, students and schools in achieving student success by helping to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Reliable attendance is critical to supporting our team and operations. Employees are expected to attend all scheduled shifts whenever possible and notify supervisors as early as possible if they are unable to do so. Job Description:
Support classroom teachers in instructional activities and classroom management by offering individual or small group instruction, facilitating learning exercises, and reinforcing lesson concepts.
Collaborate with the classroom teacher to implement student IEP and 504 plans.
Assist in preparing instructional materials, classroom displays, and learning aids to support teaching and learning objectives.
Monitor and assist in implementing student behavior management strategies, ensure safety and intervene in disciplinary situations as needed.
Supervise students before school, in the classroom, lunchroom, playground, during transitions between activities and after school.
