About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse II - MedSurg/Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years License: Not required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Experience reading basic telemetry strips - Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients - Experience with CVA and TIA patients Description: Telemetry Unit with a total of 48 beds, divided into two units. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5. Common diagnoses include COVID, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal issues, diabetes, TIA, CVA, as well as general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients. Television is monitored remotely, with telemetry technicians present on another floor. Registered nurses interpret telemetry strips and are required to sign off at least once per shift. Charge nurses and house supervisors manage the unit but do not take on patient assignments. There are nurse aides with a ratio of 1 aide for every 10-15 patients. The unit is equipped with Bipap, Cpap, and high-flow oxygen, as well as some breathing treatments. Shifts are 12 hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Self-scheduling is utilized, but schedules are balanced by management. There is a weekend requirement for two weekends in a four-week schedule. Holiday requirements include working two days and one evening or two evenings and one day for major holidays. Floating to another unit is required, depending on qualifications. Navy blue scrubs are the designated uniform on the unit. There is no call or standby requirement. Cancellations are permitted for up to four shifts per contract. Charting is completed using an electronic system.
