Flight Dynamics Engineer Los Angeles, CaliforniaThis is a spacecraft manufacturing company in Los Angeles. They build satellites and support them through launch and on orbit operations.This role leads the integration, simulation, testing and real time operations of flight dynamics systems. It spans attitude control, guidance, navigation, simulation, hardware integration, troubleshooting and live flight operations, so you carry the work from design through to on console.What you will doLead the technical integration, vendor management, interface and performance requirements for ADCS, propulsion systems and hardware GNC componentsDevelop high fidelity flight dynamics models for trajectory analysis, momentum management and propellant budgeting using tools such as STK or custom Python simulationsDevelop and tune control laws for pointing requirements, detumbling and station keepingWork with the AI&T and avionics teams so flight dynamics hardware is integrated and calibrated correctly within the spacecraft busMove from design and simulation into on console operations, handling flight dynamics anomalies and manoeuvresEnsure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirementsDocument design processes, test results and system performanceWho this suitsSomeone with 5 or more years in spacecraft flight dynamics, including attitude control and propulsion systemsProficiency with mission design software and flight dynamics simulation toolsProficiency programming in Python, C++ or MATLAB for flight dynamics modelling and flight software integrationExperience in cleanroom environments, working to ESD protocolsA bachelor’s or advanced degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering or a related fieldSomeone who has mentored junior engineers and improved engineering processesStrong problem solving and attention to detailUS citizenship, with a Top Secret clearance or eligibility to obtain oneAble to work onsite in Los Angeles full timeWhat you getCompany paid medical healthcare for employees, dental and vision care, 401k matching, a flexible vacation policy and paid leave.ApplySend your CV through this advert and we’ll come back to you with the full company details and next steps.
