Sierra Space team members share a spirit of innovation and collaboration and a belief that we can deliver on the boldest missions in space today. Together with our customers, we aim to safeguard our nation, sustain human presence in space, and secure the freedom of operations in low Earth orbit and beyond.
Our success is measured by the trust of those who rely on what we build and deliver, and our technologies keep the United States and its allies mission-ready throughout space. We are mission-driven, and together, we are an extraordinary team. About the Role
The Propulsion Engineer II role involves the design, development, and evaluation of propulsion systems, subsystems, and components for space vehicles, including launch vehicles, spacecraft, and related technologies. This position is ideal for individuals with a solid foundation in propulsion engineering and a few years of experience looking to further their career. The role includes working on advanced projects, collaborating with a diverse team of engineers and technicians, and contributing to the development of innovative solutions that drive the company's success. It offers a unique blend of hands-on experience and professional growth, making it an excellent opportunity for a mid-level career in propulsion engineering. In this role, you will frequently use and apply technical principles, standards, theories, and concepts to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. Working under general supervision, you will follow established procedures while contributing to the completion of designs directly associated with program milestones. You will collaborate with other mechanical teams and occasionally communicate outside of Sierra Space to ensure alignment and progress. Your responsibilities will include designing and developing propulsion systems, subsystems, and components for space vehicles, including launch vehicles, spacecraft, and related technologies. You will develop solutions to technical problems, conduct tests and simulations to validate propulsion system performance, and document design processes, test results, and modifications for future reference. Additionally, you will provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for propulsion systems and components, while staying updated with the latest advancements in propulsion engineering and applying new knowledge to ongoing projects. Participating in team meetings, you will contribute to project planning and progress discussions, as well as mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technicians. Clear communication of technical concepts and information, both verbally and in writing, will be essential to ensure collaboration and project success. About You Our mission is driven by an unyielding commitment to advancing space-based technology in service of our customers and safeguarding national security. We seek individuals who are passionate about innovating beyond boundaries and relentlessly pursuing solutions that protect, preserve and empower - to join us in this critical mission.
We're looking for team members who align with our values, mission and goals - while also meeting the minimum qualifications below. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement. Minimum Qualifications:
