Defense & Systems Chief Compliance Officer (D&S CCO)

Job Description Summary

The Defense & Systems Chief Compliance Officer (D&S CCO) provides executive‑level domain expertise in risk management and local regulatory compliance, demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives, and reports to the GE Aerospace Chief Compliance Officer. The role leads the Defense & Systems compliance program strategy, oversees complex issues within the area of expertise, and partners with horizontal risk focal points to improve risk‑management practices across the division.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead the Defense & Systems compliance function, setting long‑term strategy and immediate priorities.
• Partner with Defense & Systems business leaders to sustain a culture of integrity across division sites and organizations.
• Drive an operating rhythm to engage business leaders and stakeholders, such as Divisional Compliance Review Boards.
• Oversee the compliance network of site and organization compliance ambassadors, including site compliance leaders and ombuds, to manage compliance risk and promote open reporting.
• Provide guidance and coaching to the compliance team in leadership development.
• Design and implement compliance programs for approximately 15 policy and risk areas, ensuring early warning of new local regulations and timely localization of policies and procedures.
• Manage the Government Contracting Compliance Risk Focal, including governance and strategic oversight, and serve as executive escalation support for DCAA/DCMA engagements and audit readiness.
• Review high‑risk requests and transactions with the GE Aerospace Risk Focal and ensure early detection of risks via investigations or legal involvement.
• Lead compliance risk assessments and abatement actions across the division, functions, and sites.
• Identify, propose, and execute improvements to the division compliance program, policies, and processes, embracing FLIGHTDECK and continuous improvement.
• Coach and support the division compliance network, guide selection of site/org representatives, and build a diverse compliance network.
• Interact with key customers, joint ventures, and business partners to share best practices and provide training.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
• At least 12 years of experience in compliance, legal, risk management, audit, or HR roles.
• Superior oral and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to coach and work in a matrixed organization.
• Ability to influence and drive internal and external stakeholders toward decisions in a matrix corporate environment.
• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills, willingness to constructively debate, and innovative, forward‑thinking, results‑oriented approach.
• Operational experience in an aerospace division.
• Inclusive leadership ability and strong culture capabilities.
• Project management, problem‑solving and prioritization skills.
• Ability to interact effectively at all levels of an organization and make decisions that have deep impact.

Pay and Benefits

Base pay range: $225,000 – $325,000, subject to experience, education, and skill set. Eligible for annual discretionary bonus and equity. Relocation assistance: Yes.
