BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Relief Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department in Irvine, CA. Pay $24.00 - $49.00 / hour (starting point; dependent on experience and advancement through the Kahuna leveling system). Competitive shift differential pay is available for eligible nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4‑hour minimum. Example shift differentials: Mon - Fri, 6pm–8am: $4.00 Shift Differential Sat & Sun, 6pm–8am: $5.50 Shift Differential Sat & Sun, 8am–6pm: $4.00 Shift Differential Do you want to work in a fast‑paced, learning environment? As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will: Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment. Triage emergency cases as they arrive, obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure. Perform digital radiography using proper technique and positioning of patients. Have a complete understanding of normal patient vital sign ranges, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting the veterinarian to changes and issues. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR. Calculate medical math (including constant‑rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations. Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters. Mentor and train other co‑workers.
