Registered Nurse (RN)

School Nurse PositionTo provide coordinated, comprehensive health services to the students within the school system and to advocate and facilitate conditions that promote optimal physical, mental, and emotional health for children, families, and the community.Essential tasks and responsibilities include:Provide basic first aid and emergency medical servicesPerform nursing services for identification and treatment of acute illnessesMaintain individual health and immunization records, according to state regulationsAdminister medication according to prescription label and school district policySupervise, train and monitor any procedures / treatments delegatedConduct state mandated screenings (hearing, vision, scoliosis, BMI, etc.)Manage communicable disease(s) if neededIdentify students with special health care needsImplement and maintain individualized Health Care PlansComplete a thorough assessment of each identified and qualifying student in the districtEnsure that appropriate Personal Care Services applications are submitted and maintained for each qualifying studentWrite and submit a service plan for each qualifying student, every six (6) monthsModify service plans, as necessaryInstruct Personal Care Aide in routines, activities and tasks to perform in executing service plansAt least monthly, review and document aide's recordsPerform routine on-site visits both when the aide is not present and when the aide is present and furnishing servicesObtain time sheets (services performed) for compilation and submit for reimbursementStock and keep health room clean and organizedWork with physicians, classroom teachers, school nurses, paraprofessionals, parents and students to ensure appropriate documentation, monitoring and evaluations required throughout the school year are completedAdhere to all policies of the DistrictPerform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator, the Director of Nursing and other central office administrators, as designated by the SuperintendentKnowledge, skills and abilities:Knowledge of medical terminologyAbility to assist with medical procedures and treatmentsAbility to maintain confidentialityAbility to use computer network system and software applicationsAbility to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as neededAbility to communicate effectively both in verbal and written formAbility to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and other stakeholdersAbility to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growthAbility to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of workQualifications:Registered Nursing License, from the Arkansas State Board of NursingCPR certificationCEU's (15 hours every 2 years)Successful completion of all background checksContract Days: 185 Salary: Nurse Salary Schedule with applicable index
