The State of North Carolina is seeking an experienced Senior AWS Data Lake Developer / Cloud Data Engineer to design, develop, and implement scalable and secure enterprise Data Lake solutions on AWS.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and build enterprise-level AWS Data Lake / AWS Lake Formation solutions.
• Contribute hands-on to architecture, development, and coding of cloud data solutions.
• Modernize legacy applications by refactoring and migrating on-premises applications to AWS .
• Design and implement data ingestion, storage, processing, and transformation solutions.
• Develop and customize AWS ETL workflows using Python .
• Work with appropriate AWS services to support machine learning and advanced data processing .
• Design scalable, secure, and highly available AWS cloud solutions.
• Implement data security and governance , including fine-grained permissions, encryption, auditing, and compliance.
• Manage user and service-level permissions across AWS data environments.
• Develop automation using Python scripting and related programming technologies.
• Work with transactional and relational database (RDBMS) platforms.
• Implement DevOps, DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation practices.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and define cloud modernization strategies.
• Identify architectural and technical risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Troubleshoot complex AWS, data pipeline, ETL, and application issues.
• Provide technical guidance and act as a trusted advisor on cloud and emerging technologies.
• Ensure adherence to architecture standards, security requirements, and engineering best practices.
• Communicate technical solutions effectively to senior IT and non-technical business stakeholders.
• Work within Agile/Scrum environments to deliver solutions within established timelines.

Required Skills

Strong hands-on experience with AWS Data Lake, AWS Lake Formation, AWS Services, Data Ingestion, ETL, Data Processing & Transformation, Python, AWS Machine Learning services, RDBMS, Data Security & Governance, DevOps, DevSecOps, IaC, CI/CD, Monitoring, Logging, Cloud Migration, and Agile/Scrum .

Experience with Power BI, AWS QuickSight, ETL tools, and object-oriented programming languages is considered a plus.
