In this role, you'll lead a team, manage day-to-day operations, and work closely with store leadership to ensure the department runs at its best every single day.If you're a motivated leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in building great teams, and loves delivering an exceptional customer experience, we'd love to have you on our team.No two days are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Set and uphold department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitabilityLead by example, greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere throughout the departmentRecruit, hire, train, supervise, discipline, and evaluate all department employees; approve employee discipline and recommend transfers, discharge, and salary increasesDetermine department goals with the Store Director and establish weekly schedules and daily work plansInspect signage and displays for quality and quantity of merchandise and order product for replenishmentFigure retail pricing, extend and post invoices, and oversee department bookkeeping proceduresAnalyze weekly and monthly sales trends, compare to actuals, prepare ad projections, and write adsPlan displays, promotions, and pre-orders and conduct department inventoryEnsure proper temperatures and storage procedures are maintained to guarantee product freshness and control shrinkUnderstand and troubleshoot equipment and ensure maintenance is performed as neededWork closely with Restaurant and Service staff and communicate sales ideas and updates to the teamUnload trucks, check in delivered merchandise, and place product in appropriate storage areasEnsure competitive pricing in the market area and attend meetings, seminars, and continuing education as neededMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelinesReport to work when scheduled and on timeTo be successful, you'll need to be able to:Lead and develop a team, maintaining high standards and a positive, energetic work environmentSolve practical problems and interpret instructions across a variety of situations with limited standardizationCompose original correspondence, interpret written work instructions, and follow technical manualsConduct job applicant interviews and make sound hiring decisionsUse math skills including fractions, decimals, and percentages for pricing, invoicing, and sales analysisCommunicate clearly and effectively with customers, employees, vendors, and store leadershipAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service DirectorDirect Reports: Department EmployeesHigh school diploma or equivalent experience required; sanitation coursework helpfulOver one year of related work experience requiredFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areasAbility to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparationExposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipmentAbility to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standardsPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation dutiesThis is a fast-paced role in a store kitchen and restaurant environment where you'll be leading a team throughout your shift. You'll have frequent exposure to temperature extremes, dampness, equipment movement hazards, and cleaning chemicals or solvents.
