Core Duties and Responsibilities Greets and escorts patient to exam rooms; prepares for physician visit by obtaining initial information and vital signs. Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies. Assists with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures. Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed. Assists provider during patient examinations and procedures. Educates patients on follow up expectations. Maintains quality control testing logs as required. Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition. Assists patients with completion of medical documentation. Assists with office administrative tasks including answering phones, taking messages, printing, data entry, and other closing duties. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR one year of clinical experience. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date. Preferred Qualifications Completion of healthcare education coursework. One year of healthcare experience. Physical Requirements Medium work—exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, or 10 pounds constantly. Ability to bend, stoop, reach and stand/walk for an 8‑12 hour shift. Working Environment Working closely with others. Protracted or irregular hours. Exposure to biohazards and infectious diseases. Hands in water; may require travel between facilities. Skills and Abilities Use and care of equipment including printers, embossers, and computers. Effective communication with staff and patients. Adaptability to changing environments. Independent and team work setting. Organize and prioritize work.
