Job Title: Assembler – Commercial HVAC Modification

Job Description

This role focuses on modifying and assembling commercial HVAC units to meet detailed customer specifications in an industrial job shop environment in Addison, IL. You will work with incoming units, primarily from major manufacturers, and perform both mechanical and electrical assembly, integrating components such as valves, copper piping, controls, and drives to deliver high-quality, customized systems.

Responsibilities

• Modify commercial HVAC units according to detailed customer specifications and engineering drawings.
• Install and assemble components including raw valves, copper piping, electrical controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), fans, blowers, and wiring panels.
• Perform mechanical and electrical assembly work on incoming HVAC units.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and written work instructions accurately to complete assemblies and modifications.
• Ensure all modifications meet established quality, safety, and performance standards.
• Test assembled units for proper functionality and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues as needed.
• Use tape measures, hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment safely and effectively.
• Operate machines and work on assembly lines as required to support production goals.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in a busy industrial environment.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and engineering staff to ensure projects are completed on time.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and strong work ethic to support consistent production output.

Essential Skills

• Proven ability to perform mechanical and electrical assembly work in a production or job shop environment.
• Proficiency using tape measures, hand tools, and power tools for assembly and fabrication tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
• Basic understanding of electrical wiring and mechanical systems relevant to HVAC equipment.
• Capability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on assembled units.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods during the shift.
• Comfort working around galvanized steel and in an industrial environment.
• Reliable attendance and consistent, strong work ethic.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) installation and integration.
• Experience in general production, assembly line work, or machine operating.
• Mechanical aptitude and prior mechanical assembly experience.
• Experience in a job shop or industrial manufacturing setting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with production and engineering teams.
• General labor experience in fabrication, assembly, or related fields.

Work Environment

This position is based in an industrial job shop environment with first and second shift options: 1st shift runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and 2nd shift runs Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The facility can be hot, dirty, and not optimally lit at times, and you will regularly work around galvanized steel and other industrial materials. Work is hands-on and physically active, involving standing for most of the shift, lifting up to 50 pounds, and using hand and power tools, tape measures, and assembly equipment. Dress comfortably and appropriately for an industrial manufacturing setting, with suitable workwear and any required personal protective equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Addison, IL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Addison,IL.
