Key Responsibilities of the X-Ray Technologist

• Verify patients' identity and review physicians' orders prior to x-ray procedures.
• Operate x-ray equipment to capture images of bones, tissues, and organs as instructed by physicians.
• Explain procedures and address patient inquiries.
• Correctly position patients, including those with limited mobility.
• Handle radiologic equipment safely and ensure low radiation doses.
• Monitor patient status and adapt to age-specific needs.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images for Radiologist interpretation.
• Report any equipment issues to management promptly.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems and adhere to dual patient identifier protocol.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper image transmission to the PACS system.

Requirements of the X-Ray Technologist

• Completion of training at an approved School of Radiologic Technology with ARRT Certification.
• Obtaining a NYS license prior to starting.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an X-ray Technologist.
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Recent OR experience.
• Proficiency with the c-arm/o-arm within the past 8 months.
• Ability to lift patients and stand for extended periods.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Compassionate, patient-oriented demeanor and team player mentality.
• BLS Certification through the American Heart Association.
