Production Team Leader Electronics Assembly

Lead a production team in a bright, modern electronics manufacturing environment, coordinating daily activities to meet finished goods, work-in-progress, and Kanban requirements while maintaining high standards of quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and track production activities to meet daily finished goods, work-in-progress, and Kanban requirements.
• Execute the production plan efficiently while promoting a continuous improvement mindset across the team.
• Communicate production issues and opportunities clearly to supporting functions and lead resolution initiatives.
• Ensure quality of workmanship meets IPC standards and all work instructions are followed consistently.
• Manage team performance by monitoring attendance, aligning staffing levels to the production plan, and allocating people resources appropriately.
• Engage positively with direct reports to foster strong teamwork, high engagement, and a culture of innovation.
• Assess team member skill levels, ensure appropriate training is provided, and maintain a high level of cross-training within the team.
• Plan, lead, and document regular Kaizen team meetings to communicate issues, identify opportunities to improve throughput and efficiency, and track action items through completion.
• Oversee rejected material resolution and coordinate closely with quality teams to address nonconformances.
• Ensure timely tracking, output, and shipment of returned material authorization (RMA) products.
• Lead the execution of engineering change orders (ECOs), rework, and repair activities in alignment with documentation and quality standards.
• Monitor MRP and WIP activities to ensure data accuracy and proper work order management.
• Support safe and proper use of electrical, mechanical, and component assembly tools and equipment on the production floor.
• Encourage adherence to standard work practices, including use of microscopes, soldering equipment, and hand and power tools as required by work orders.
• Promote a safe, clean, and organized work area in line with facility guidelines and ESD controls.

Essential Skills

• At least six months of electronic assembly experience.
• Experience with electrical, wiring, circuit board, electronics, electrical assembly, component assembly, and mechanical assembly.
• Demonstrated leadership, supervision, and management skills in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to navigate a computer and work within systems such as MRP and electronic work instructions.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow work instructions and document production activities.
• Ability to distinguish all shades of color to correctly identify wires and parts.
• Ability to work with small parts and maintain strong handeye coordination.
• Ability to stand and/or sit for 810 hours per day as required by production needs.
• Comfort working around soldering processes, including exposure to solder smoke.
• Ability to work under a microscope for detailed assembly and inspection tasks.
• Capability to cross-train and move between departments as production requirements change.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating production machines and equipment used in electronics or mechanical assembly.
• Experience using hand and power tools to set up and change equipment based on work orders.
• Troubleshooting experience related to assembly processes, equipment, or product issues.
• Soldering and assembly experience, ideally with familiarity in J-STD or similar industry standards.
• Exposure to Kaizen, continuous improvement, or lean manufacturing practices.
• Experience coordinating ECOs, rework, repair, and RMA processes.
• Experience in leadership development, including coaching and developing team members.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with quality, engineering, and other support functions.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, bright, and modern electronics manufacturing facility. Team members wear a smock, safety glasses, and a static guard band to maintain safety and ESD protection. Work often involves standing for most or all of the shift, handling small components, and performing detailed tasks, including work under a microscope. The environment includes exposure to soldering processes and the smell of solder smoke, as well as the use of electrical and mechanical assembly tools, hand and power tools, and production machinery. The facility promotes organized workstations, adherence to IPC and work instruction standards, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Peter, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.50/hr.
