Clinical Nurse Coordinator Mother Baby Postpartum

LewisGale Medical Center, a full-service tertiary hospital known for advanced vascular, heart, surgical weight loss, and rehabilitation services, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for the Mother Baby Postpartum unit. In this role, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, family-centered nursing care to postpartum patients and newborns while supporting the daily clinical operations of the unit. Working closely with physicians, nurses, and the interprofessional care team, you will oversee patient assignments, monitor clinical workflows, and help ensure adherence to evidence-based postpartum and newborn care standards. You will provide direct bedside care, including comprehensive postpartum assessments, newborn assessments, medication administration, lactation and feeding support, pain management, discharge planning, and patient and family education focused on recovery, newborn care, and safety. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff, assisting with orientation, mentoring, and ongoing competency development, while promoting a culture of compassionate care, teamwork, and continuous improvement. You will collaborate with leadership to support staffing, throughput, and quality initiatives, assist with policy and procedure implementation, and participate in quality and safety projects related to maternal and newborn outcomes, infection prevention, and patient experience. This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication and teaching skills, the ability to respond quickly in emergencies, and a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and regulatory compliance.
