Summary: Under general direction provides histology services for Alaska Native Medical Center. Responsibilities: Performs patient specimen preparation. Ensures sample suitability. Accepts and processes samples for on-site testing or to contracted reference laboratories. Prepares tissue samples for physician analysis. Evaluates, judges and interprets test results. Identifies and resolves inconsistencies in patient results. Maintains laboratory equipment and instruments. Ensures quality control and functionality of instruments. Provides customer service for questions directed to laboratory. Answers questions from patient providers regarding test processes, patient results, or sample collection techniques. Trains new employees and laboratory students. Participates in continuing education programs. Monitors, maintains, orders and stocks laboratory equipment and supplies. MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

An Associate’s degree in clinical pathology or progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

Non-supervisory – One (1) year of clinical laboratory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
