Ultrasound Imaging Specialist

Job Description Department: UHC: GYN/OB - FMO Job Summary: The Ultrasound Imaging Specialist, under minimal supervision, performs complex diagnostic ultrasound and vascular exams in accordance with department protocols. Provides a high level of care to ultrasound and vascular patients. Supports the department’s objectives in clinical services, education, research, and cost reduction. Maintains proficiency in performance and workflow. Assists with training and education in the radiology department and specific modalities. Required to be on‑call; hours may vary. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Minimum two years’ experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a medical center preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of abdomen, abdominal Doppler, OB/GYN, small parts, and interventional sonographic procedures. Read and write legibly; speak in English (Spanish preferred) with professional quality. Use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient‑care equipment. Communicate positively, effectively, and professionally; assertive and consistent in following policies. Work calmly, respond courteously under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math; manage multiple assignments; organize and prioritize workload. Pay close attention to detail and recall information accurately. Distinguish colors and smells; hear sufficiently for general conversation; identify sounds associated with patient care. See adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and documents necessary for positioning; discern temperature variances through touch. Licensure and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required. Core Certification of Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen, Obstetrics, or Gynecology required or must be attained within six months of hire date. Specialty credential in Breast, Neurosurgery, Pediatric Sonography, Vascular Technology, Fetal Echocardiography, maternal‑fetal medicine, or Musculoskeletal Sonography preferred.
