Organizational Unit Overview The School of Dental Medicine is composed of ten administrative offices and four academic departments. The administrative units include the Offices of the Dean, Vice Dean, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Associate Dean for Research, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Associate Dean for Extramural Clinical Practices, Assistant Dean for Dental Education and Informatics, Assistant Dean for Educational Support and Faculty Development, Assistant Dean for Academic Success and the Assistant Dean for Business Operations and Financial Affairs. The four academic departments are Surgical Sciences, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, General Dentistry and Foundational Sciences. Mission and Service Locations Included in the mission of the School of Dental Medicine is to educate dental care providers (both dental students and dental residents) and to address the oral health care needs of the underserved population of North Carolina. The School of Dental Medicine meets these missions by operating dental clinics that provide both educational experiences for the dental students and residents and provide dental care to the residents of North Carolina. These clinics occur in both Ross Hall in Greenville, North Carolina, as well as Community Service‑Learning Centers located throughout North Carolina. In order to operate these clinics, appropriate dental auxiliaries and clinical staff are needed. Position Details Position Number: 001700 Full Time or Part Time: Full Time Job Category: Staff - Office/Clerical Job Duties This position is located at the School of Dental Medicine, Community Service Learning Center in Elizabeth City, NC and is the practice site administrator for the CSLC. The role will: Communicate with area health partners to facilitate a whole health approach for patient care. Manage the business, operational, human resources, and financial functions of the clinic, including managerial oversight for clinical processes, quality assurance, and compliance. Oversee programs instituted at the CSLC such as the Reduced Fee Program, Payment Plan reviews and agreements, NC Farmworkers Program, Ryan White Program, Patient Care Fund, Teaching Case Proposals, and Grant Case Proposals. Make independent decisions using sound business practices and policy and procedure requirements. Monitor workflow processes and procedures, modify as needed to meet CSLC requirements, and interpret policy changes to adapt processes. Work with the CSLC Director to propose long‑term and short‑term goals for the CSLC. Apply state, university, and School policies and procedures to the CSLC location, develop and implement workflows to support the mission and goals. Conduct financial management for the CSLC, monitor revenues and expenditures, forecast future needs, and compile, analyze, and summarize data to support budgeting. Serve in full supervisory capacity, developing work plans, conducting performance evaluations, recruiting, selecting employees, and managing human resource responsibilities for the off‑site location. Identify, recognize, and resolve difficult problems using established procedures, making quick sound decisions where policies are not available. Serve as the community liaison and point of contact, communicating information clearly and concisely. Develop written documents and reports, analyze and summarize reports for the Dean’s office and the CSLC Director. DENTAL MEDICINE SUPPORT POSITION – NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT. The position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS) unless transferring from another North Carolina state agency or an existing ECU employee who was enrolled in TSERS. Minimum Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions. Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education Previous experience in a dental practice desirable.
