Senior Investment Accountant

The Senior Investment Accountant performs advanced accounting, investment accounting, reconciliation, valuation, reporting, and analytical duties in support of the State Board of Administration's investment programs. Responsibilities include month-end public market valuation, daily and monthly cash and investment reconciliations, securities lending accounting and reporting, Lottery accounting, and support and review of Florida Prepaid accounting activities. The position also provides oversight, quality assurance review, and technical support for class action loss calculations and other specialized accounting functions. These responsibilities require the application of professional accounting principles, independent judgment, advanced analytical skills, and adherence to established internal controls, regulatory requirements, and financial reporting standards. Oversee Public Market Valuation Reconciliations and Core Accounting Functions Class Action Process Oversight Florida Prepaid Monthly Accounting Analysis and Review Lottery Accounting Security Lending Income Verification Reporting Develops and Maintains Thorough Knowledge of SBA Systems, Operations and Procedures and Participates in Accounting's Cross-Training Plan Ongoing Monitoring and Due Diligence and Year-End Duties Performs Other Duties as Assigned Minimum Qualifications: Four years of related experience. A postsecondary degree may be used as an alternative for years of direct experience. Preference: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, business, mathematics, or a related field Meets the eligibility requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountant examination Certified Public Accountant certificate from the Florida State Board of Accountancy Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Advanced computer skills to include performing advanced queries Skill in analyzing accounting processes and improving or creating new procedures/processes Skill in analyzing and interpreting accounting standards, regulations, and other authoritative guidance, specifically as it relates to governmental accounting Skill in analyzing complex accounting issues and making appropriate recommendations Skill in collecting/organizing accounting data, interpreting its significance, and preparing accurate financial reports Skill in independently analyzing and solving reconciliation discrepancies Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to effectively train others Ability to independently manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and meet varying deadlines Ability to independently solve problems through application of analysis and critical thinking Ability to learn new skills in a dynamic work environment Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment Ability to perform at a high level in a team environment and to effectively execute all job responsibilities #J-18808-Ljbffr State Board of Administration of Florida
