To us, metal is more than material. Local Driver Local Driver will be responsible for transporting raw materials and manufactured products across the United States and the globe. Most delivery locations are within 150 miles of our campus, so you are going to be home every night. This role is located in Granite City, IL and will be fully on‑site. Hourly Pay Range : $25/hr - $30/hr with a $0.55 - $0.60 CPM Work Schedule : 6 am - 2:30 pm Pay Schedule : Weekly Responsibilities Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues with correct documentation. Comply with DOT rules and regulations as well as with company policies and procedures. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions. Collect and verify delivery instructions. Report defects, accidents, or violations. Ensure trailers are locked out and chocked before loading/unloading. Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations. Maintain contact with supervisor, dispatcher, and scale house operator to receive work instructions. Work in a timely, safe, and responsible manner to meet customer or company requirements. Qualifications Must be at least 22 years old, have a minimum of 5 years of experience, and possess a valid Class A CDL license. Clean driving record. Not cited for a D.O.T. defined accident in the previous three years. Ability to pass the DOT physical and drug screen. Have knowledge of and compliance with company policy and all federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the operation of company equipment. Good communication skills; conveys information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Ability to read and understand documents such as BOLs, freight logs, and intermodal transport documents, safety rules, operating, and procedure manuals. Ability to use a digital camera and upload pictures according to company standards. Adapts to change quickly and easily and performs effectively during times of change; demonstrates the ability to multitask and manages competing priorities effectively. Learn quickly in a fast‑paced environment. Demonstrate strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Extensive knowledge of applicable truck‑driving rules and regulations. Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.). Be a safety champion by promoting a safe and productive workplace through proper use of PPE, safe operation of powered equipment, and safe lifting techniques. Required to move frequently, stand, walk, and sit; must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and open containers. Manual strength requirements: lift up to 50 lbs.; push, pull, bend; manually open/close trailer doors (25‑50 lbs.); secure doors; operate trailer dolly legs (50‑75 lbs.); use crane bar handle to roll/unroll tarps (75‑100 lbs.); swing roof bow headers (75‑100 lbs.); adjust brakes requiring squatting or kneeling (25‑50 lbs.); slide trailer tandem with slider bar to release pins (75‑100 lbs.).
