About the Team We’re building an agentic AI platform that’s changing how enterprises work with data. Merciv connects an organization’s entire data landscape with external sources – social media trends, industry reports, consumer behavior signals – to surface insights and automate workflows that used to take analysts weeks. We care a lot about making powerful tools feel simple. Every feature should be intuitive, every component interactive. We’re small enough that everyone has real ownership. We use a DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) model – you’ll own major product features from conception to launch, not just contribute to them. You’ll wear multiple hats, and that’s by design. The Role As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll design and build the core systems that power Merciv’s agentic infrastructure. You’ll architect services that process massive volumes of enterprise data in real‑time, build the pipelines that feed our AI engines, and ensure our platform scales reliably for Fortune 500 clients who depend on it daily. This is a DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) role. You’ll own major platform features from architecture to deployment, working closely with ML engineers, product, and our enterprise customers. What You’ll Do Design, build, and scale backend services using Go and Python that power autonomous retail intelligence for enterprise clients Architect data ingestion and processing pipelines that handle millions of data points across internal and external sources Build and maintain APIs that serve our agentic AI platform, supporting real‑time decision‑making at enterprise scale Collaborate with ML/AI engineers to integrate predictive and prescriptive models into production workflows Own system reliability (design for fault tolerance, observability, and performance under high‑throughput conditions) Contribute to architectural decisions that shape the long‑term trajectory of our platform Mentor junior engineers and establish backend engineering best practices as we scale Who You Are 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience, with meaningful time spent building systems at enterprise scale Deep proficiency in Go and/or Python, with strong fundamentals in distributed systems and microservices architecture Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases; comfortable with data processing at scale Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration Strong understanding of system design principles (you can architect solutions that balance performance, scalability, and maintainability) Passionate about clean, well‑tested, maintainable code You thrive in fast‑paced environments and are energized by hard, ambiguous problems Bonus Experience with graph and/or vector databases Familiarity with RAG architectures and the broader GenAI landscape Experience with real‑time data processing and streaming technologies Understanding of ML/AI concepts, particularly in forecasting and NLP Why Merciv Real enterprise impact: our platform drives 8‑figure improvements in gross margins for the world’s largest retailers Cutting‑edge technical challenges at the intersection of agentic AI, distributed systems, and enterprise data orchestration Small team, massive surface area.
