Job Description

Position Summary

The Travel Technician is a highly skilled field service professional responsible for supporting system installations, equipment startup, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and post-delivery technical support aboard U.S. Navy ships and related maritime platforms. This position requires extensive travel to customer locations, shipyards, naval bases, and operational fleet environments to support the activation, integration, repair, and sustainment of electrical and mechanical systems.

The Travel Technician serves as a technical representative of the company, working directly with customers, ship's force personnel, engineering teams, quality representatives, and program management to ensure successful system operation and mission readiness. The position requires independent decision-making, advanced troubleshooting capabilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to resolve complex technical issues with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Comply with and follow all company procedures and work site safety procedures and protocols
• Install, upgrade, or repair equipment in various field locations across the US and abroad
• Interface and build positive relationships with the customer during field visits
• Understand the proper use of tools, i.e. crimpers, strippers, torque wrenches, meters, etc.
• Perform on-site servicing, diagnostics, and repairs for electrical products and equipment
• Demonstrate ability to make electrical terminations in accordance with Fairlead or customer specifications
• Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
• Demonstrate ability to work to the requirements of the provided statement of work
• Exhibit time management skills required to complete work on schedule
• Demonstrate ability to read and comprehend electrical schematics
• Demonstrate ability to properly measure, cut, and install components IAW Fairlead or customer drawings
• Ensure tools are put away in the proper location and workspace clean at the end of every shift
• Demonstrate ability to comprehend and follow information contained in work instructions, as well as consistently charge time to the correct project
• Submit timely and detailed written reports to the Post Delivery Support Manager daily

Physical Demands:

While performing these job duties, the employee is routinely required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers and hands to type or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

This position requires travel to major ports within the US and internationally. Work will be performed on government vessels located on Navy bases and private shipyards

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an Electrical Technician, Electronics Technician, Integration Technician, Field Service Technician, Navy Electrician, or equivalent technical discipline.
• Experience performing electrical troubleshooting and equipment commissioning in industrial, maritime, shipboard, defense, or military environments.
• Ability to travel extensively (50-75% or greater as required).
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, PDF-based technical documentation, and digital reporting systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain customer site access and security requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• U.S. Navy, Military, Shipyard, Maritime, or Defense Industry experience.
• IPC J-STD-001 Certification.
• IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
• Fiber Optic, Connectorization, or Cable Installation Certifications.
• Experience with NAVSEA standards, shipboard installations, and post-delivery support.
• Active or previously held U.S. Security Clearance.
