Job Description:

NDi is seeking a Cloud Data Platform Engineer to support the FAA Chief Data Office Enterprise Information & Data Integration Program (EIDIP). This role designs, operates, and continuously improves the core compute, storage, distributed-processing, automation, monitoring, and recovery services that enable enterprise data and analytics platforms across cloud and hybrid environments.

Requirements :

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
• This position is remote, candidate must reside in one of the following states: AL, AZ, DC, FL, GA, ID, MD, MS, NJ, NC, OK, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV

• Occasional travel may be required. Candidates should be able to attend meetings at FAA facilities and other locations throughout the Continental United States (CONUS) as required.

• Must be available during Eastern Time (ET) business hours to support program needs and FAA coordination.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a relevant field
• Minimum 6 years of systems engineering or similar professional experience
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Linux, infrastructure automation, Terraform, Ansible, Amazon EMR, AWS Glue, and monitoring frameworks.
  
• Experience researching, designing, architecting, and implementing complex IT solutions across heterogeneous enterprise environments.
  
• Experience with multiple hardware and software environments and leading projects through the software development lifecycle.
  
• Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Contractor Personnel Suitability.
  
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, organizational, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• FAA or other federal experience and experience supporting regulated enterprise platforms.
• Experience with cloud modernization, distributed data processing, platform migrations, production operations, and high-availability environments.
• Experience spanning servers, networks, distributed platforms, databases, data pipelines, and enterprise monitoring.
• Relevant AWS, infrastructure, Linux, or platform-engineering certifications

Technologies and Methods:

• AWS, Amazon EMR, AWS Glue, and hybrid cloud environments
  
• Linux and enterprise platform operations
  
• Terraform, Ansible, Infrastructure as Code, and configuration automation
  
• Distributed processing, compute, storage, monitoring, logging, backup, and recovery
  
• CI/CD, operational metrics, incident response, and root-cause analysis

Responsibilities:

• Design, operate, and continuously improve core platform services supporting enterprise data, analytics, application, and AI/ML workloads.
• Manage compute, storage, distributed-processing frameworks, platform configuration, automation, upgrades, and production stability across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Engineer and sustain AWS-based platform capabilities, including EMR, Glue, Linux services, monitoring frameworks, and related platform dependencies.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure automation with Terraform, Ansible, and approved CI/CD and configuration-management tooling.
• Monitor availability, capacity, performance, logs, vulnerabilities, backup, recovery, and operational health and establish actionable metrics and alerts.
• Support platform modernization, migration pilots, release cycles, scaling, resiliency improvements, and operational transition.
• Troubleshoot complex platform and infrastructure incidents, lead root-cause analysis, and implement durable corrective actions.
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, environment documentation, operational procedures, and security evidence.
• Coordinate with enterprise, solution, integration, cloud, data, database, DevOps, application, and security teams to resolve dependencies and implementation risks.
