Shore Legal Access (SLA) is a Maryland nonprofit connecting Eastern Shore individuals and families in need of legal representation with volunteer attorneys to ensure that justice truly is for all. Shore Legal Access makes the law accessible to Eastern Shore residents facing challenges in civil legal matters, including family law, life and estate planning, consumer debt, landlord/tenant matters, and criminal record expungement. Its staff and volunteer attorneys empower individuals and families to resolve legal issues while helping those new to the law understand their role in advocating for their individual rights and responsibilities. Clients of Shore Legal Access walk away with an attorney in their corner, connections to community services, and a new perspective on the law. Job Summary Shore Legal Access (SLA) seeks a personable, proactive, and compassionate Case Manager to join our dynamic team. This full-time position serves as a central point of contact for clients seeking life and estate planning services, helping connect individuals with essential documents such as wills, powers of attorney, and advance medical directives. The ideal candidate has a passion for working with older adults and enjoys case management work and has 3-5 years of case management experience. The Case Manager oversees monthly clinics with volunteer attorneys and works closely with community partners to expand access to services. This role also includes outreach and partnership development to strengthen relationships and raise awareness of SLA’s life planning resources. Based in our Salisbury office, this full-time position offers a salary range of $50,000–$57,500. SLA provides opportunities for cross-training and professional growth, a flexible hybrid work environment, and a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off; employer-covered health, dental, and vision insurance; short- and long-term disability coverage; and retirement savings with employer match. Job Responsibilities Comprehensive Client Intake Process: Manage and execute a compassionate client intake process, conducting interviews and screenings both in person and over the telephone for people seeking life and estate planning legal services. Respond promptly to client inquiries received by phone and online channels. Conduct income eligibility screenings and assess case types. Managing monthly life and estate planning clinics: Serve as the coordinator for SLA’s monthly life planning clinics including building client schedules, supporting clinic days in Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties, and partnering closely with SLA staff and volunteer attorneys to keep each clinic running smoothly. Coordinate and schedule document signing appointments to help clients complete their wills, powers of attorney, and advance directives. Case Management: Work proactively to help clients navigate obtaining legal assistance, including collecting documents, connecting clients with additional resources, and providing trauma-informed assistance for clients experiencing crisis. Database Management: Manage complete and accurate collection and entry of client information and case status in SLA’s case management database, ensuring documentation, tracking, and reporting. Partner Cultivation and Engagement: Collaborate with key partners to increase SLA’s reach and connection with people in need of life planning legal services. Participate in community outreach events, including tabling, providing informational presentations at events, sometimes requiring evening and weekend hours. Serve as a mission ambassador by advancing SLA’s mission through professional networks and partner cultivation.
