Sterile Processing Technician (Laboratory) Location: Long Beach, CA Job Type: Full-Time Experience Level: Entry Level Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to support laboratory operations through the cleaning, inspection, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of instruments and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sterile processing practices, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques to ensure the highest level of safety and quality. Key Responsibilities Collect, clean, inspect, wrap, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments, instrument trays, basins, and laboratory equipment. Inspect, disassemble, sort, clean, and process reusable instrumentation and equipment according to established procedures. Operate autoclaves and specialized cleaning equipment to ensure proper sterilization and decontamination. Assemble and prepare general and specialty instrument sets, including power equipment, laser instruments, and endoscopes. Follow manufacturer guidelines for cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of medical devices and laboratory equipment. Perform sterilization monitoring and maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory and infection control standards. Document daily quality assurance (QA) and sterilization activities accurately and completely. Support high-level disinfection processes and biological monitoring programs. Reprocess endoscopes and other reusable patient care equipment as required. Maintain adequate inventory of cleaning and sterilization supplies. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, departmental procedures, and regulatory requirements. Assist with laboratory support activities while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Experience cleaning and maintaining patient care equipment such as IV pumps, feeding pumps, pneumatic pumps, CPM machines, PCA pumps, and hypo/hyperthermia units. Understanding of sterilization monitoring, quality assurance programs, and record-keeping requirements. Familiarity with infection control standards and regulatory compliance for sterilization and disinfection processes. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Long Beach, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
