This role oversees value‑based contracting across the organization, including negotiating with insurance providers and implementing contract agreements. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with value‑based contracts and a strong understanding of coding and documentation practices. Must be located in the greater St. Louis area. Role Purpose In collaboration with leadership, the Managed Care Contracting Manager manages and leads the contract negotiations with Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), including rate and language discussions that align with established guidelines and BJC strategic goals. The role develops and maintains strong relationships with MCOs and collaborates with Health System Organizations (HSOs) to identify challenges and opportunities for improvement around contract performance. Responsibilities Manages personnel, including onboarding, hiring, training, workload management, performance evaluations, and professional development plans to support departmental goals. Negotiates complex managed care contracts on behalf of BJC HSOs, leading discussions with managed care organizations, reviewing and drafting contract language that protects BJC revenue and improves administrative functions, and negotiating rates within established guidelines. Facilitates problem solving of contractual and operational issues in collaboration with managed care organizations and internal stakeholders, communicating opportunities for process improvement. Stays abreast of changing healthcare landscape to maintain awareness of competitor services and reimbursement models, leading discussions related to contract performance, market changes, and strategic decision making. Coordinates with the analytical team to ensure contractual terms, payer‑specific requirements, reimbursement logic, and limitations are understood and incorporated into modeling systems.
