Pipe Layer

Install storm, sanitary, and water mains on heavy-civil and site-development projects. You'll work as part of a utility crew to set pipe to grade, build structures, and perform connections, with a strong focus on safety and trench protection. Responsibilities Install storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main per plan and grade. Build catch basins, manholes, and inlets; set frames and grates. Set pipe to laser or string line; verify slope and alignment. Work safely inside trench boxes and shoring; maintain awareness of trench protection requirements. Coordinate with the operator on bedding, backfill, and compaction. Perform pipe connections, tap-ins, and tie-ins per spec. Keep accurate records of installed materials and as-builts for the foreman. Requirements 3+ years installing storm, sanitary, or water mains on civil construction projects. Proficient reading utility plans and profiles. Comfortable working in trenches with shoring, trench boxes, and confined spaces. OSHA 10 (Confined Space training a plus). Valid driver's license.
