Waterfront Director

French Woods is a co‑ed overnight performing arts summer camp for children ages 7–17, where creativity, adventure, and community come together. While campers spend their days performing on stage, flying through the circus tent, and creating art, the waterfront is one of the most exciting and energetic places on camp—and that’s where you come in. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Waterfront Director to lead our dynamic waterfront program. This role is perfect for someone who loves the water, enjoys working with young people, and thrives in a leadership position. The Waterfront Director is responsible for developing and running a safe, exciting, and age‑appropriate waterfront program that keeps campers active, learning new skills, and having fun all summer long. You will lead and support a team of waterfront staff while overseeing the daily operations of our waterfront facilities and equipment. From teaching skills and coordinating activities to maintaining strong safety standards, you will play a key role in creating unforgettable summer experiences for our campers. Qualifications and Requirements Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff. Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior‑management techniques. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Ability to carry and load luggage, tables, chairs, and other waterfront equipment. Possess endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Operate with daily exposure to the various weather conditions. Willing to live in camp setting and work irregular hours delivering program in the facility available. Previous experience in residential camping. Current certification in first aid and CPR. Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent), with open water module. Minimum six weeks previous experience in a management or supervisory position at a related Aquatic/Waterfront facility. #J-18808-Ljbffr
