Registered Nurse - Behavioral Services Nights

Registered Nurse Registered Nurses at Cayuga Medical Center are an integral part of the collaborative interdisciplinary team devoted to the delivery of comprehensive and compassionate care to the Tompkins County community. RNs can practice at full scope and engage in development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs and services to improve patient outcomes in a shared governance environment. Roles and Responsibilities Assess patients and families with needs ranging from uncomplicated to highly complex, quickly recognizing normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status based on past clinical experience. Use person‑centered care to develop care plans, prioritize nursing care, involve patients and families in establishing care goals. Demonstrate competence and resourcefulness in implementing the technical skills required for patient care, stay current on organizational policies, procedures, and standards, and act as a resource to peers while gaining involvement from other health team members. Evaluate effectiveness of care, follow through on delivery, and demonstrate critical thinking by making appropriate clinical decisions, proactively addressing problems, and providing compliant clinical documentation. Show awareness of the value and relevance of research and evidence‑based practice, and be self‑directed in assuming responsibilities within the team and care delivery system. Assist peers and team members in acquiring department‑specific knowledge, skills, and behaviors; serve as a department resource for clinical practice, operational systems, and provide leadership in implementing patient‑care standards. Required Skills and Experience Active New York Nursing license (out‑of‑state nurses eligible to apply). Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (new hires will obtain these during the introductory period). Preferred Skills and Experience Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Physical Requirements Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads up to 40 lbs; repetitive stooping, kneeling, and other physical tasks; ability to sit, walk, or stand for long periods; ability to operate job‑related equipment.
