Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – ICU (Days & Nights PRN) Crescent City Physicians, Inc. is seeking experienced Advanced Practice Providers to join our Intensive Care Unit team on a PRN basis. Position Highlights PRN opportunities – Days and Nights Collaborative multidisciplinary critical care team High‑acuity ICU patient population Opportunity to perform advanced procedures Competitive compensation Key Responsibilities Patient Assessment & Management: Perform comprehensive evaluations of critically ill patients, develop and modify individualized treatment plans, manage acute and chronic conditions to ensure optimal outcomes. Collaborative Care: Partner with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other team members; facilitate seamless transitions of care during shift changes and handoffs. Procedures & Interventions: Assist with and perform advanced bedside procedures including intubations, central venous line placements, arterial line insertions, and other critical care procedures within scope of practice. Medication Management: Prescribe and manage medications as permitted by licensure; titrate critical care medications and initiate emergency interventions when appropriate. Monitoring & Documentation: Continuously assess patient status, interpret laboratory and diagnostic results, and maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Patient & Family Education: Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding treatment plans, prognosis, and ongoing care needs; provide compassionate support during critical situations. Quality Improvement: Participate in quality initiatives, evidence‑based practice projects, and support departmental goals related to safety and operational excellence. Qualifications Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Licensure: Current, unrestricted Louisiana Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license. Certifications: BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (required). ACNP or CCNP certification (preferred). CCRN certification (preferred). Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of critical care experience as an NP, PA, or RN; demonstrated experience managing critically ill patients in an ICU setting. Skills & Competencies: Strong critical thinking and clinical decision‑making; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in advanced critical care procedures; ability to work independently and effectively in a high‑acuity environment; commitment to patient‑centered care and teamwork.
