Vice President of Engineering, AI Strategy & Full Stack About the Company Expanding technology company in the grocery industry Industry Grocery Type Privately Held About the Role The Company is seeking a VP of Engineering with a focus on AI strategy and full-stack development. This hands-on leadership role is pivotal in guiding the technical strategy, leading a lean engineering team, and shaping the integration of AI across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ruby or Ruby on Rails, at least 8 years of software engineering experience, and a proven track record of managing and mentoring engineering teams. Experience in SaaS or product-driven environments is essential, and a background in hardware and software integration, as well as experience with AI-driven systems, is highly desirable. As the VP of Engineering, you will be responsible for a diverse range of tasks, with a significant portion of your time dedicated to hands-on engineering and technical oversight. This includes working on backend Ruby-based systems, frontend React/JavaScript, and a substantial focus on AI, infrastructure, and platform strategy. The role also involves team leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration to influence the long-term direction of the company's technology. The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys building, mentoring, and driving execution, and who is capable of staying hands-on while leading the team. Experience in modernizing legacy systems and a background as a Principal or Staff Engineer transitioning into leadership are also valuable assets for this position.
