Quality Assurance Coordinator - Sterile Processing

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Coordinator for Sterile Processing to monitor workflow, quality, and daily operations within the department. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with established standards and promote continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) workflow and daily operations.
• Conduct daily process and quality tray audits, documenting results in the tracking system.
• Oversee staff competencies and provide necessary training, coaching, and re-education.
• Assist in training new hires and supporting annual competency assessments.
• Maintain accurate quality and event reporting, including internal and external quality events.
• Demonstrate proficiency with the instrument tracking system, ensuring audits are documented for traceability.
• Monitor routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
• Adhere to SPD policies, guidelines, manufacturer instructions for use (IFUs), and load-failure procedures.
• Ensure compliance with AAMI, Joint Commission, and hospital standards.
• Support the implementation of process improvements to enhance patient safety and operational efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with management, supervisors, and quality/education leadership.
• Submit detailed daily reports and respond promptly to communications.
• Attend meetings and support ongoing quality improvement initiatives.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.
• At least 1 successful travel contract.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in quality assurance, staff education, or supervisory roles.

License/Certification Requirements

• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST or CBSPDT).
• Expertise in AAMI standards, Joint Commission regulations, and Infection Prevention practices.
• Experience with Epic software is preferred.

Working Conditions

• Shift: Full-time, 8-hour day shift from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
• No weekend or holiday requirements.
• Orientation includes 6 hours of training (3 hours non-billable).
