OSA thoroughly investigates alleged cases of fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars, working with law enforcement on prosecution when warranted.Description of WorkThe Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is looking for Staff Auditor I to assist with various financial audits performed on entities across state government, including institutions of higher education.As part of our team, you will get to:Participate in planning meetings for assigned audits where the team discusses audit risk and designs audit procedures to address the risksConduct on-site fieldwork, including gaining an understanding of internal controlsAnalyze accounting transactions and perform test proceduresContinue learning to expand and develop technical skillsKnowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesSalary Range: $60,000 - $70,000Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/CompetenciesBasic knowledge of auditing and accounting principles and practicesDemonstrated ability to oversee multiple prioritiesDemonstrated experience communicating effectively both orally and in writingWhy Work for the NC Office of The State Auditor?OSA is the state’s Fiscal Watchdog .
