Registered Nurse – Telemetry (Neuro Tele)

Contract | Days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Neuro Telemetry unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, caring for patients with diagnoses including CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, brain tumor, and tracheostomy.
• Titrate IV drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin per protocol.
• Interpret EKGs and monitor patients via central telemetry monitoring.
• Perform and maintain competency in sterile field procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, as assessed in a pass/fail SIMs Lab on Day 1 of orientation.
• Participate in bedside report, float to telemetry units and telemetry overflow in the ICU as needed, and fulfill weekend shift requirements (4 shifts per 8-week period).
• Collaborate with charge nurses, nurse aides, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy to deliver care in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment with an average LOS of 4–5 days.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license with Level 1 Trauma experience required.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts permitted).
• Ability to interpret EKGs and titrate drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin).
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR; experience with WOWs (Workstations on Wheels).

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Neuro nursing experience strongly preferred.
• Experience caring for tracheostomy patients, post-surgical neuro patients, and patients with complex neurological diagnoses.
• Prior travel nursing experience with demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to new facility environments and policies.
