Job Title: Registered Nurse- Supervisor


Credentials: Current Nursing License from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing Current School Nurse Standard Certificate by the State of Oklahoma


Education: High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's of Science in Nursing preferred.


Training or experience required: Minimum of 3 years of nursing related experience. Previous work or volunteer experience with children, teenagers and or students with disabilities is preferred.


Reports to: Health Services Coordinator


Contract: 190 days


Salary Schedule: Certified


FLSA Classification: Non-exempt


Essential Job Functions:

• Assume responsibility for the health programs and related needs of the students.
• Participate in placement meetings when appropriate.
• Conduct health screenings and make appropriate referrals.
• Report to parents and school personnel information pertinent to health care.
• Administer medications in accordance with State Laws and Board of Education Policy.
• Attend meetings and conferences regarding health services.
• Authorize exclusion and readmission of students with infectious and contagious conditions according to Norman Public Schools Guidelines.
• Prepare and submit reports as necessary.
• Participate in School Safe, Healthy, and Fit committees.
• Provide health education to students, faculty, and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:


Successful performance of the job requires good customer service/people skills and to handle problems and provide information and technical assistance as requested. It requires complying with safety guidelines and policies to reduce accidents or injury to staff or to students. It requires following school dress standards, proper attendance or leave policies, and other work-habits concerns for staff. Creativity, initiative and effective problem solving are critical to the success of the position.Help manage the computerization of school district operations. Provide training and support to district staff in the use of administrative computer systems. Perform such tasks to the ultimate benefit of the educational program. An incumbent in this position will utilize discretion, ingenuity and independent judgment due to the complexity of the job. Since there may be several ways to solve a problem, an incumbent is free to choose the solution. This job requires frequent bending/stooping and occasional to frequent squatting/crouching, reaching above the shoulder, and pushing and pulling. There is occasional lifting up to 50 pounds to assist the lifting of chairs, classroom equipment and supplies. The incumbent must have the dexterity to operate keyboards, computers, copy machines, and medical equipment. Must be able to communicate with students, parents, faculty, staff and the medical community. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
