Registered Nurse - ICU Location: Saratoga Hospital, 211 Church Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 Salary Range: $38.00 - $60.00 2+ years of ICU experience required. About The Role The ICCU is a 19-bed critical care unit located on the 2nd floor of the north building. The patients can be in various stages of recuperation from diagnostic therapies or surgical interventions. We see the highest volume of patients experiencing cardiovascular and pulmonary disease, as well as those recovering from high-risk surgeries. Health care delivery is provided through relationships, with the activities of care organized around the needs and priorities of patients and their families. With the patient and family being the core, the demonstrated practices and values that integrate into the caring and healing environment of relationship-based care include leadership, teamwork, professional nursing, care delivery, resources, and outcomes. We believe that our care practices visibly demonstrate the mission and values of our organization, and extend to clinicians and staff members from other disciplines and services. In addition, the ICCU registered nurses are a vital team member of the Rapid Response and Code Blue team by providing critical care nursing expertise to the bedside of a patient who is having an unforeseen deterioration. Assesses patients' physical/psycho-social status. Analyzes relevant data. Integrates assessment results in care planning, goals and outcomes. Provides for therapeutic interventions based on continued assessment, prescribed orders and input from other care providers. Provides for adequate pain management, manages IV therapy and administers medications according to critical elements. Provides for patient/colleague/self-safety and protection. Communication: Communicates with patients, colleagues, providers, and management in an accurate, considerate, and timely manner. Applies patient-specific communication skills in interactions that are culturally sensitive & appropriate to age. Language barriers and sensory & cognitive deficit are accommodated. Provides report that is pertinent, concise using SBAR. Documents in a complete, timely and concise manner. Problem Solving: Employs critical thinking skills to achieve outcomes and solve problems. Practices within limits of experience/capability. Collects and integrates data from multiple sources and seeks assistance/information appropriately. Analyzes data critically in order to support clinical decision making. Displays an ability to solve problems, reason and learn to utilize evidenced-based practice. Protects patient autonomy, dignity and rights. Advocates for patients/families, including obtaining advanced directives when applicable. Expedites discharges per guidelines. Time Management: Manages own work and material resources effectively. Delivers organized care by prioritizing care needs and tasks effectively. Positively adapts to changes in patients' condition, assignment and expectations. Maintains clean, orderly environment of care. Leadership: Applies leadership skills consistent with role and experience. Delegates and/or assign care that is consistent with the role, scope of practice, and abilities of the recipient. Provides feedback pertinent to the situation that is positive and/or provides co-workers educational opportunities. Co-ordinates care within the multidisciplinary team. Manages conflict in a capable, effective manner. Actively participates and promotes professional practice by participating in committees, councils, policy development, or professional organizations. Teaching: Incorporates teaching in the delivery of care to promote health and prevent disease. Provides information to patient/family with consideration to individual needs. Assess for barriers to learning and motivation. Teaches patient/family to safely take and monitor the effects of medications. Prepares a patient/family for prescribed treatment/procedure/discharge. Consults a multidisciplinary team as appropriate to enhance patient/family education. Provides counseling on health behaviors. What You Bring Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Candidates with AAS in Nursing who will complete BSN within five years of date of hire will be considered.
