DepartmentFirst-Year AdvisingCompensation$18.84 HourlyGeneral Description/Primary PurposeThe primary purpose of the Academic Support Specialist will be to provide administrative support to students, faculty and staff to address individual needs including challenges. This individual will help to support students through referral to appropriate campus resources and through collaboration with other support units to ensure timely and effective assistance.Job FunctionProvides customer service to incoming customers as the first point of contactManages front office processesProvides one-on-one assistance in person, via telephone, and e-mailManages the Office email inboxes and voicemail boxesDirects student inquires appropriately and efficientlyAssists the Director/Associate and Assistant Director and Advising Staff with organizing and preparing for New Student OrientationsAssists with End of Term processes as determined by the Advising Leadership teamUnder the direction of the Advising Director, assists with registration functions such as lifting holds, providing registration overridesHires, trains, schedules and manages student workersWill supervise student assistant staff.Marginal FunctionsMust be able to work on the occasional Saturday to assist/participate in university events.During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree or a high school diploma and 4+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla.
