Ratios 1 to 4 (Based on acuity)
EMR Cerner FirstNet
Charge Nurse Yes - 24/7. From 11p - 11a charge nurse also does triage. Otherwise will take a patient assignment. Will have a break relief nurse or the charge nurse will do break relief.
Nurse Aides They will have an ER tech (EMT) from 7p - 630a. They can also do EKGs, splinting, & casting
Weekend Requirement Every other weekend
Holidays Work into the perm staff holiday schedule

Vents Yes - per RT
Hospitalist or Intensivist in house Both are in house, not 24/7, on-call after hours (5p & all weekend)
IV Team No
RT 24/7 Yes
Pharmacy 24/7 In house until 10 pm. 24/7 access - pharmacy out of Dominican hospital after hours does auto verification, Do have an on-call pharmacist.
Shifts 12 hour shifts 7-7, 11- 11, day shift has varied starts btwn 7a-11a
Floating Doubtful, but if want to work extra this could be available if have ICU, Tele, or MedSurg floor experience
Floor specific orientation 2 shifts with a preceptor
Common diagnosis / Types of patients Typical ER patients. They are not a trauma center. They get a lot of walk-ins. Cath lab has great door to balloon times, CVAs might do drip & ship to Stanford. Really sick kids go to Stanford (15 minutes away)
Additional Notes This ER sees a very high affluent population. This ER come up #1 & always goes above & beyond for it's patients. They have baskets with soaps, shower gel, gently used clothes, undergarments, etc...Requires 2 years of experience in similar size ER. First time travelers are okay.
