Onsite Field Service Engineer 2 - Houston, TX

Illumina seeks an Onsite Field Service Engineer to provide on-site support for genomic sequencing equipment in the Houston area. The role involves installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of complex instrumentation while managing customer relationships and coordinating with support teams.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain Illumina sequencing platforms and associated systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex customer-reported technical issues independently
• Schedule and prioritize preventive maintenance and service tasks to maximize equipment uptime
• Manage service documentation, case management, and administrative tasks following established protocols
• Build and maintain customer relationships while coordinating with regional support teams

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree plus 2 years related experience, or equivalent work background
• 2-6 years direct experience servicing genomic sequencing or similar equipment
• Knowledge of optical alignments, robotics, electrical/electronics, and mechanical systems
• Technical proficiency with computer hardware, Windows OS, and networking
• Strong problem-solving ability and independent work capability
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Biotechnology or biomedical industry background preferred

Compensation: $74,900 - $112,300 base
