Supervisory Accountant

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Exercise supervisory authority over Accounting Technicians, Teller, and Voucher Examiner including planning, assigning, monitoring, and evaluating performance.
• Develop performance standards, work guidelines, establish schedules, and direct daily workflow.
• Participate in management processes by providing accounting and cost reports for leadership planning.
• Implement system changes, process improvements, and reporting enhancements as directed by VISN or VA Central Office.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of the Agent Cashier bank account and produce required accountability reports.
• Conduct reconciliations of general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, fixed asset accounts, and work-in-progress
• Complete mandatory 90-day surprise audits of cashier operations including cash, checks, and credit card instruments.
• Investigate financial discrepancies and anomalies, resolving improper or incorrect accounting actions.
• Develop or modify automated tools, spreadsheets, or databases to resolve accounting system conflicts, improve data flow, and ensure reconciliation accuracy.
• Maintain and reconcile Patient Fund (PFOP) accounting with VPFS subsidiary records; promptly account for and report any discrepancies.
• Prepare, post, and report employee salary accruals for Managerial Cost Accounting.
• Draft special analytical reports (e.g., trend analyses, status of assets/liabilities) for leadership and strategic operating plans.
• Document reconciliations, anomaly explanations, and corrective action plans, including system/process modifications implemented.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Telework: This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
