Teacher, Autism, Integrated (167) Job Details Job ID: 5671764 Application Deadline: Jul 31, 2026 4:59 AM (UTC) Posted: Apr 27, 2026 12:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Jul 20, 2026 Location Cobb County School District TEASLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, 0138, Smyrna, Georgia Job Summary Provides instruction for eligible students with disabilities through collaboration with general education teachers and parents/guardians that enables them to learn and achieve to the maximum of their abilities in an appropriate special education program. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree required. For alternative certification, must have passed or been exempted from the GACE Basic Skills Test and the GACE Special Education General Curriculum Content Test or an Adaptive Content test. Certification/License: Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate. Experience: None required. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift a student up to 40 pounds without assistance; ability to perform a 2‑person lift for students over 40 pounds. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Written and oral communication; knowledge of areas of disability and special education practices and procedures; specialized instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learner; student behavior management. Essential Duties Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance. Complete designated follow‑up procedures for students referred for special education service. Demonstrate knowledge of the eligibility process and assist with initiation of the process to completion of the eligibility/IEP. Develop, implement, monitor, and regularly review the Individual Education Program of each student on the caseload at least annually. Work with parents/guardians in all aspects of their child’s educational program. Compile, maintain, and submit accurate paperwork within designated timelines. Collaborate with the general education teacher and/or related services staff to provide special education services that maximize student achievement according to program guidelines through established service delivery models. Maintain lesson plans according to policies and/or directives. Demonstrate knowledge of research‑based practices by delivering specialized instruction to students according to their IEPs. Develop and implement carefully designed data‑driven behavior management strategies, including Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans based on student need. Utilize formative and summative assessments and collect data on student achievement and progress toward mastery of IEP goals and objectives and report progress to parents/guardians on a regular basis. Ensure all due process procedural safeguards are afforded to students and their parents/guardians. Facilitate effective use of instructive and assistive technology. Adhere to district special education policies and procedures and federal regulations/state rules. Serve as a resource to general education teachers who teach students with disabilities. Seek to improve knowledge and skills through professional learning and training activities associated with job related tasks and student needs. Meet the unique needs of students with severe disabilities, i.e., lifting, positioning, feeding, toileting as appropriate. Meet expectations according to the general education teacher job description. Maintain prompt and professional communication with parents.
