Production Cutter – Showroom Headers

Mood Fabrics | Lodi, NJ • On-site

Compensation: $16 – $18/hr + Medical, Dental, Life, 401(k), & PTO

The Mission

Mood Fabrics is looking for a highly detail-oriented Production Cutter to join our Showroom Operations team. Reporting directly to the Showroom Coordinator, this role is responsible for the accurate and efficient cutting of fabric used to produce our showroom headers.

This is a hands-on production position where precision matters . You will work with hundreds of different fabrics, ensuring each piece is cut to the correct specifications, matched to the correct SKU and color, and prepared for the next stage of header production.

The ideal candidate has a sharp eye for detail, takes pride in consistent work, is comfortable working with textiles, and can use computers and inventory systems accurately.

Core Production Responsibilities

Header Cutting: Accurately measure and cut fabric according to established specifications for showroom header production.

Fabric Identification: Identify fabrics by SKU, color, material, and other product characteristics to ensure the correct fabric is being cut for each production batch.

Quality Control: Inspect fabric before and after cutting to identify flaws, damage, inconsistencies, or cutting errors and bring issues to the attention of the Showroom Coordinator.

Production Accuracy: Maintain consistent measurements and cutting standards across large quantities of fabric and multiple production runs.

SKU & Data Accuracy: Use computers and internal systems to verify product information, record production activity, and ensure physical materials correspond with digital records.

Organization: Keep cutting materials, work areas, and production batches organized to prevent errors, misplaced materials, or mixing of SKUs and colors.

Production Workflow: Work closely with the Showroom Coordinator and other members of the production team to maintain an efficient flow of materials from fabric inventory through completed header production.

Issue Escalation: Immediately communicate discrepancies, damaged materials, incorrect labeling, color concerns, or other production issues to the Showroom Coordinator.

The Candidate Profile

Exceptional Attention to Detail: You notice small differences and understand that a minor cutting or identification error can affect an entire production batch.

Strong Visual & Color Recognition: Excellent color vision is required. Candidates must not be color blind , as accurately distinguishing fabric colors is an essential function of the position.

Precision & Consistency: You are comfortable performing repetitive tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistency throughout the day.

Computer Proficiency: You are comfortable using computers and learning new software. Experience with Gmail, Excel, Google Sheets, inventory systems, or databases is a plus.

Organization: You keep your workspace and materials organized and can manage multiple production batches without mixing products or losing track of details.

Reliability: You are dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a steady production pace while meeting quality standards.

Willingness to Learn: You are comfortable learning Mood's product assortment, SKU structure, fabric terminology, color names, cutting specifications, and internal production processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in production, manufacturing, textiles, sewing, warehouse, merchandising, or a similar hands-on environment is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent color vision; must not be color blind .
• Comfortable using computers and learning new software and systems.
• Ability to read and follow detailed production instructions.
• Ability to perform repetitive cutting and measuring tasks while maintaining accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English.
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures.
• Must be comfortable working on your feet for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move fabric rolls and materials as needed.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on production position. The successful candidate must be able to:

• Stand and work at a cutting station for extended periods.
• Repeatedly measure, handle, fold, and cut fabric.
• Lift and move fabric and production materials as required.
• Safely navigate stairs and ladders when necessary.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm movements throughout the workday.

What You’ll Do Every Day

Your day-to-day work will involve:

• Pulling the correct fabric based on production requirements.
• Verifying SKU, color, and fabric information before cutting.
• Measuring and cutting fabric to precise specifications.
• Inspecting cut pieces for accuracy and quality.
• Sorting and organizing cut pieces by SKU and production batch.
• Entering or verifying production information on a computer.
• Maintaining a clean and organized cutting area.
• Communicating production issues or discrepancies to the Showroom Coordinator.
• Working as part of the broader Showroom and Sample Production team to keep header production moving efficiently.
