Professional Liability Defense Partner

DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced litigation attorney to join a respected legal practice in New York, New York as a Non-Equity Partner or senior-level counsel on a path toward partnership. This opportunity is well suited for a lawyer who can step into an active portfolio of matters and provide immediate leadership on defense-oriented cases. Candidates with a background in liability matters are highly valued, though accomplished civil defense litigators seeking to expand into that area are also encouraged to apply.Responsibilities:• Manage an established docket of defense matters and guide each case from initial assessment through resolution.• Represent clients in court proceedings, depositions, hearings, and other litigation-related appearances.• Draft, review, and argue motions while developing effective case strategies aligned with client objectives.• Handle all phases of civil litigation, including fact development, discovery oversight, and settlement evaluation.• Advise clients on risk, exposure, and litigation strategy with a high level of sound judgment.• Contribute senior-level legal leadership within the New York, New York office and support the continued growth of the practice.• Work on liability defense matters or apply transferable civil defense experience to this practice area.• Build strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders throughout the life of each matter.Requirements• Admission to the New York and New Jersey bars is required.• At least 6 years of litigation experience in a law firm.• Strong background in defense-side litigation is preferred.• Demonstrated ability to appear in court, defend or take depositions, and manage motion practice independently.• Experience in civil litigation, defense litigation, insurance defense, or liability matters is highly relevant.• Proven capability to oversee complex caseloads with minimal supervision.• Excellent written advocacy, oral communication, and strategic case management skills.Job typePerm
