Lead Maintenance / Custodial Supervisor

Building Maintenance, day position, candidate must have varied maintenance skills such as plumbing, carpentry, painting and etc.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

• Previous maintenance work experience.
• Basic understanding of maintenance areas including plumbing, electrical and HVAC.

Functions and Responsibilities:

Specific Responsibilities:

• Operate all equipment safely and appropriately.
• Maintains cleanliness of building and premises (including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas) at all times.
• Supervises and directs the scheduling of custodial services for events outside of the school day.
• Schedules custodial staff to cover extra activities.
• Supervises all custodial work being performed in the building.
• Assists in supervision of custodial staff within the building.
• Ensures that classrooms, student gathering areas, restrooms, corridors and office areas are cleaned daily according to district specifications.
• Maintains all floor surfaces according to district specifications.
• Maintains grounds around the building.
• Prepares building and grounds for start of school each day according to building schedule.
• Checks emergency lights and fire extinguishers and documents appropriately.
• Ensures that all doors and windows are secured and all lights are turned off (except as necessary for safety reasons) at the close of each school day according to building schedule.
• Reports any unauthorized persons in the building to the office immediately.
• Reports damaged school property immediately to the Principal and the Maintenance Director.
• Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required.
• Maintains mechanical equipment as directed.
• Makes minor building repairs, and promptly reports major repair needs to the Maintenance Director.
• Performs other duties as assigned by building Principal or Maintenance Director.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

• Level 4 – Heavy Work
• Exerting 50 - 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25-50 pounds of force constantly.
• Requires extended periods of sitting and/or standing.
• Requires physical exertion to manually lift, move, carry, pull and/or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 lbs.
• Requires frequent stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, crawling and/or turning.
• Requires climbing and balancing.
• Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
• Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
• Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
