Position Summary

The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, coordinates, and delivers skilled nursing care to patients in the Primary Care Clinic while adhering to professional nursing standards and evidence-based practices.

The RN provides care across all age groups and demonstrates proficiency in:

• Pediatric care
• Adult and family medicine
• Women's health
• Gerontological care
• Health maintenance
• Injury prevention
• Immunizations
• Wellness visits
• Chronic disease management

Essential Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Utilize the nursing process to develop, implement, and revise individualized patient care plans.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, emotional, social, and safety evaluations.
• Assess patients for:
  • Tobacco use
  • Depression
  • Alcohol and substance use
  • Cancer screening needs
  • Vaccination requirements
• Perform patient tests and administer medications as prescribed.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
• Initiate IV catheterization and administer IV medications.
• Monitor patient progress and document care accurately and thoroughly.

Patient Education

• Empower patients to take an active role in their health and wellness.
• Provide education regarding treatments, medications, preventive care, and self-management strategies.
• Help patients and families understand diagnoses and achieve healthcare goals.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Serve as a clinical resource for LPNs and CMAs.
• Act as charge nurse when needed.
• Work collaboratively with providers and healthcare team members to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Support a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

Required Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Required Experience

• 3–5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse

Required Licensure & Certifications

• Current Alaska Registered Nurse License
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• ACLS certification within one year of hire
