Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (3–6 months) Pay Rate: $40-50/hr Position Overview An education employer in the Katy, Texas area is seeking an AI Automation Engineer to join a newly established team. This individual will work directly with leadership, including a Director and CIO, to support automation and AI-driven initiatives. The role focuses on integrating and optimizing workflow automation platforms and AI voice solutions through APIs. Key Responsibilities Develop and optimize automation workflows for AI and workflow management platforms Support and enhance AI voice agent platforms Perform AI prompt engineering to improve system outputs Troubleshoot and refine automation processes to improve efficiency Collaborate with leadership on assigned projects and deliverables Required Qualifications 1+ year of experience working with AI technologies Experience with workflow automation platforms (Make.com, n8n preferred) Experience automating tasks for AI voice platforms (Retell AI, Vapi, ElevenLabs preferred) Experience with AI prompt engineering Understanding of APIs and MCPs Background working in IT Nice-to-Have Qualifications PowerShell scripting experience Degree in an AI-related field Experience with LLM or RAG modeling Compensation $40/hr to $50/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
