Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer – Axle SystemsDesign and develop heavy-duty truck axle components and systems from concept through production release, supporting validation, testing, and continuous product improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and modify axle components and assemblies using Siemens NX (3D modeling and 2D drawings).Create and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, and design documentation within PLM/PDM systems.Develop and maintain DVP&R documentation in collaboration with validation and test engineering teams.Support prototype builds, testing, root cause analysis, and implementation of design improvements.Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, purchasing, and global teams to deliver successful product designs.Apply engineering methodologies including DFMEA, FEA, and DOE to support product performance and reliability.Participate in technical reviews and represent the design team as needed.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.4+ years of experience in heavy-duty truck axle design and development.Proficiency with Siemens NX for 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation.Experience with PLM/PDM systems and engineering change management.Knowledge of DVP&R, DFMEA, and basic FEA principles.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to work hands-on with physical components during prototype and testing activities.Proficiency with Microsoft Office.Ability to travel domestically and internationally.Preferred QualificationsExperience with axle systems, driveline components, differentials, or related vehicle systems.Familiarity with prototype validation, durability testing, and root cause analysis.Experience working in cross-functional and global engineering environments.Job Type & LocationThis is a permanent position based out of Redford, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
