Quality Assurance Engineer

About the Role

HL Mando is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer I to join our Warranty Team. This role is responsible for investigating warranty return parts, identifying root causes of field failures, analyzing claim trends, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive product quality improvements and reduce warranty costs.

This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level engineer or recent graduate interested in quality engineering, warranty analysis, and automotive systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform failure analysis on returned automotive components (steering gears, EV motors) to identify root causes of defects
• Disassemble and evaluate parts using diagnostic and test equipment such as dyno testers, performance test stands, oscilloscopes, and CT imaging systems
• Analyze warranty claim data to identify trends, recurring failure modes, and cost drivers
• Prepare detailed investigation reports and present findings to internal engineering teams and customers
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams to implement corrective and preventive actions
• Support 8D problem-solving activities and drive issues through closure
• Monitor warranty performance and generate monthly reports for leadership on trends, costs, and improvement actions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with FMEA, 8D, FTA, SPC, and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Familiarity with automotive quality processes and warranty investigations.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and PCB layouts.
• Experience with CAN tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, or CANape.
• Exposure to Python, automation tools, or data analysis software is a plus.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with OEM warranty processes and cost recovery activities
• Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and JIRA
• Exposure to diagnostic tools, CAN systems, or testing software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset
