Staff RN - Westerville Surgery Center OR

Overview Schedule: Days, Monday-Friday, with varying shifts, 40 hrs./week. BSN and OR experience preferred. Assists patients to move rapidly, uneventfully, and as effectively as possible through their surgical encounter, maintaining quality and safety as a priority. Delegates, directs, oversees and provides developmentally appropriate patient care. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Maintains a current Ohio Nursing License. Responsibilities Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach. Assesses individualized patient needs. Communicates patient care needs and priorities to Surgical Technologists and Perioperative Technicians. Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices. Utilizes Therapeutic Communication while monitoring the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families. Engages in the “community of the unit” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff. Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures. May perform in the role of RN First Assistant as needed following successful completion of an accredited first assistant program. Qualifications Education Requirement: BSN preferred. Associate degree required with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire. Licensure Requirement: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio. Certifications: Current CPR certification required. Physical Requirements Occasionally: climb stairs/ladder, drive motor vehicles (work required) *additional testing may be required, push/pull 100 lbs or greater with assistance, push/pull 41-60 lbs, push/pull 61-100 lbs, reach above shoulder. Frequently: bend/twist, lift/carry 21-40 lbs, lift/carry 41-60 lbs, lift/carry 61-100 lbs, push/pull 26-40 lbs, squat/kneel. Continuously: audible speech, biohazard waste, blood and/or bodily fluids, chemicals/medications, cold temperatures, communicable diseases and/or pathogens, computer skills, decision making, depth perception, electricity, flexing/extending of neck, fume/gases/vapors, hand use (grasping, gripping, turning), hearing acuity, hot temperatures, interpreting data, lift/carry 0-10 lbs, lift/carry 11-20 lbs, loud noises, machinery, patient equipment, peripheral vision, power tools, problem solving, push/pull 0-25 lbs, repetitive hand/arm use, seeing – far/near, sitting, standing, walking.
